Location
San Miguel is One of UNESCO’s Honored
World Heritage Sites
San Miguel de Allende shares a very special honor with such celebrated locations as the Taj Mahal, the Great Barrier Reef, and the Statue of Liberty: designation as a protected World Heritage Site. Bestowed by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), this title acknowledges the town's meticulous preservation of its legendary past.
Residents of Artesana will appreciate San Miguel’s conservation efforts every day, when strolling along a weathered cobblestone path, admiring centuries-old architecture or participating in one of more than 100 traditional festivals and events. In fact, due to such stringent UNESCO preservation policies and the town’s collective desire to maintain historical accuracy (even billboards and stoplights are rarely permitted), Artesana is expected to be the last residential community built within el centro – making it all the more rare and desirable.
